“I Ride For You & Me” Campaign

John Dennis is a man on a mission! He plans to ride 700KM on his electric bike around the Confederation Trail P.E.I. starting June 10th to raise awareness, hope and funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis through his “I Ride For You & Me” campaign. John hopes to ride 50 to 75KM per day, in order to complete his ride in 11-12 days.

John’s goal is to raise 1.4 million dollars. To do this, he hopes that 2,000 people will donate $700 (that is $1 for every kilometre). All donations are most welcome.

There are three goals for this fundraiser:

1- Raise awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis and other Interstitial Lung Diseases.
2- Raise awareness of the drastic need for organ donations.
3- Raise funds for a research fund in the memory of Brian Dennis (John’s late brother who had Pulmonary Fibrosis) and Barbara Ann Barr Haylock (who had Pulmonary Fibrosis, received a lung, and was a fervent patient advocate).

John is from Halifax and will be 78 in October 2022. After being turned down twice for a lung transplant, John persevered and was finally referred for a lung transplant just shy of age 73. In March 2021, he received his new lung!

John has sailed a boat around the world, and views this, as yet another challenge! He is an amazing man with a very positive attitude and a zeal for life!

This is an ambitious goal, but John Dennis is determined to make his dream come true!
